Energy Recovery Facilities – The Power of Design
The future is looking bright for green power. The Government is tackling climate change on many fronts, with two main battle grounds being energy and waste. More of our energy must come from renewable sources to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. When it comes to waste, old style landfills are notoriously environmentally unfriendly. And with Japan's recent tragedy renewing the fear over nuclear power, the demand for green power is at its greatest. The solutions are a new generation of power plants called Energy Recovery Facilities (ERFs) which use residual waste or biomass as the fuel source. Waste, previously a problem, is now becoming a resource delivering green renewable energy.
