LMS Features
YourLMS Learning management system is SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 compliant. Supporting learner-centric and instructor-led (assigned) workflows, featuring a user-friendly interface, automated recordkeeping, online report generation and organisational hierarchies for large clients. The various modules that can be included in a course are described below.
Lessons
- A lesson is a unit of learning which can be presented in a linear fashion, like a slide show, or in a non-linear, branching manner, or in a combination of the two.
- A course can comprise of one or more Lesson Units
- User lesson activity is recorded
- Users can complete the lesson in more then one sitting the system will restart the lesson at the point the lesson was suspended
- Lessons can be Textual, Ineractive or Video based or any combination
Quizzes
- Quizzes are automatically graded, and can be re-graded if questions are modified
- Quizzes can be MultipleChoice, True-False, Fill-In, Essay, Matching questions
- Quiz questions and quiz answers can be shuffled (randomised) to reduce cheating
- quizzes can be attempted multiple times, and can show feedback and/or correct answers
Certificates
- Generate course completion certificates.
- Generic or custom certificates according to course.
- Certificates can be customised at the group/organisation level.
- Security prohibits generating certificates with different names
Flash Cards
- The yourLMS memorization system is designed around the learning technique known as spaced repetition.
- Studies have shown that 48 hours after a study session, we have generally forgotten 75% of the material.
- Reinforce learning with Flash (Memory) Cards.
Assignments
- Assignments can be specified with a due date and a maximum grade
- Late assignments are allowed, but the amount of lateness is shown clearly to the teacher
- Teacher feedback is appended to the assignment module for each user, and notification is mailed out.
- The teacher can choose to allow resubmission of assignments after grading
Resources
- Supports display of any electronic content, Word, Powerpoint, Flash, Video, Sounds etc.
- Files can be downloaded and managed (zipped, unzipped, renamed, moved, etc..) on the clients machine
Links
- Links to external resourses can be accessed from within a course
Forums
- Forums can be included for each course
- Forums can be Moderated
- Forums can be set up as closed user forums
- Discussions can be viewed nested, flat or threaded, oldest or newest first.
- Users can opt to be notified by email when new posts have been made
Blogs
- provide a flexible way of publishing information, with the possibility of student feedback.
- use the comment facility to ask questions and to post the results of class activities during the lesson
- use the blog as a repository for notes and images of practical work
Virtual Classrom
- Instructors can share their desktop, show slides, collaborate, chat, talk and broadcast via webcam.
